The neck is an often overlooked feature when it comes to proper skin maintenance. While diligent care is given to the face, the neck is usually forgotten, even though it ages at the same rate.

A neck lift removes excess neck skin and fat and tightens loose muscles to create a more defined jawline and youthful-looking neck.

Am I a Candidate for Neck Lift Surgery?

If you are unhappy with the appearance of your neck and have tried non-surgical methods in vain, reach out to Dr. Ghere. Neck lifts are performed on individuals with loose neck skin, including vertical skin banding.

To be considered for a neck lift, Dr. Ghere will review your medical history, listen to your concerns, and qualify you for the procedure.

A neck lift can help to diminish the appearance of unsightly jowls, wrinkles, neckbands, and double chins.

How Is a Neck Lift Performed?

Under Dr. Ghere’s guidance, you can choose between a full neck lift or a liposuction lift.

During a full neck lift, Dr. Ghere will make an incision under the chin and behind the ears to manipulate and tighten the tissues and remove excess fat.

For the liposuction neck lift, a thin tube is used to suction the excess fat from under the skin, revealing an improved look and neck contour.

Depending on your specific aesthetic concerns, a neck lift surgery can be combined with other procedures such as facelift surgery, brow lift surgery, eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), or nose reshaping (rhinoplasty).

Neck Lift FAQs

  • What Is Neck Lift Recovery Like?

A neck lift is performed under general or local anesthesia, which means you will not feel any pain during the procedure.

Patients can expect to experience mild pain, swelling, and bruising in the treated area for about two weeks. Pain medication is prescribed to manage discomfort.

While you will be able to return home within a few hours of the procedure, you will be required to limit physical activity, including driving yourself. Patients are advised to rest for a day or two and limit physical activity for up to two weeks.

Consult Dr. Ghere before going back to strenuous activities, such as exercising.

The length of your recovery may vary depending on the extent of correction, type of procedure, and how well you take care of the incisions. Neck tightness may last for several months.

  • What Results Can I Expect From My Neck Lift?

Patients can expect their scars to fade significantly over time and experience considerable improvements in their appearance.

You will achieve tighter, more youthful-looking skin and gain a natural neck curve. Neck wrinkles will diminish or disappear entirely.

To prolong results, patients are advised to maintain a healthy diet and exercise regularly. Over time, the skin will age naturally, but the effects will be less pronounced with a healthy lifestyle.
