5 Ways Fat Transfer Can Sculpt Your Face, Breasts, and Body

4 Minute Read:

Many women and men struggle with the same concern, unwanted fat in some areas and a desire for more volume in others.

While it isn’t always possible to choose where you want your curves naturally, you can do so with plastic surgery. Fat transfer allows you to remove fat from areas you don’t want it and move it to areas that you do.

Below, we will examine fat transfer and discuss five of the most beneficial aspects of this procedure so that you can understand how fat transfer may be able to help you achieve the body contours you desire.

What Is Fat Transfer?

Also known as fat grafting, fat transfer is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure in which fat is extracted from one area of your body and then injected into a different area of your body.

For this procedure, liposuction surgery is used to harvest fat from your body (usually from the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, or any other area with excess fat that you want removed).

Once the fat is extracted from the body, it is purified so that only the best and most effective fat is used for the transfer. Lastly, the harvested fat is injected into an area of your body that needs natural enhancement (both in size and shape).

Depending on the location of the fat transfer and the extent of correction needed, this procedure can take anywhere from one hour to several hours to perform.

How Can Fat Transfer Help You?

While there are numerous benefits to a fat transfer procedure, here are five of the most helpful for you to keep in mind as you consider whether you are a fat transfer candidate or not:

1. More Trimmed Midsection

One of the most common areas of the body to suffer from stubborn fat (the fat that is resistant to natural diet and exercise) is the midsection. Excess fat in and around the abdomen can be distracting to your entire body aesthetic. However, with fat transfer, many patients choose to have their fat harvested from their abdomen with liposuction

This removes unwanted fat in the belly to help you achieve a more contoured and trimmed figure. And since the removed fat will be used to augment another area of your body, this procedure acts as a two-for-one deal, where you are able to correct multiple cosmetic frustrations at the same time.

2. Natural Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation surgery was the fourth most popular plastic surgery procedure for women in 2020.

For a surgical breast augmentation, breast implants made of either saline or silicone are used to improve the size, shape, and fullness of women’s breasts. However, many women feel worried about placing a foreign object (the implant) into their body.

With fat transfer, implants are unneeded, since you are augmenting the size, shape, and volume of your breasts with fat from your own body. This results in natural-looking and feeling breasts and can be used with or without implants.

3. Restore Facial Volume

Our faces tend to be the most prominent areas of our bodies to show the effects of age. And one of these unwanted age-related facial concerns is volume loss

Men and women who suffer from volume loss in the face can look much older and worn down than they actually are (and definitely more than they want to appear). However, volume loss in the face (usually under the eyes, in the cheeks, and in the temples) can be corrected with fat transfer.

After a facial fat transfer, you can look forward to a more youthful-looking face.

4. Reshape Your Backside

Many women (and men) desire a fuller and more defined derrière. And while you can spend countless hours at the gym, there is no guarantee that your results will be what you really want.

Fat transfer to the buttocks can help you achieve the augmented and sculpted results that you desire. What makes this procedure even more effective for the backside is that unwanted fat can be removed from areas of the buttocks and added to other areas for a more appealing and volumized backside!

5. Minimize the Appearance of Scars

While many people don’t think about scar improvement with the use of fat, fat transfer can help you improve the appearance of scars on your body. Scars can be softened and even diminished completely with this procedure, since the harvested fat helps to add volume to and fill in depressions in the skin made by scars. Because of this, your scarred skin can look smoother and healthier than it has in years.
